Nigeria’s Broadband Connections Hit 92.5Mn In February

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reported that broadband connections in the country marginally increased to 92.5 million in February 2023, indicating an increase of 550,223 connections higher than the 92 million recorded in the preceding month.

The just published data on broadband subscriptions in the month under review by the telecom industry’s regulator showed that the country’s broadband penetration slightly rose to 48.49% from the 48.20% level recorded in January this year.

The data reflected that in February 2023, total internet subscriptions by telecom users for 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G internet services increased to 156.9 million, adding that 58.9% of the internet connections were on 4G and 5G.

The NCC’s report reflected that efforts by the Prof. Isa Pantami-led Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy to deepen internet services through the implementation of the National Broadband Plan (NBP 2022-2025) were yielding positive results.

It would be recalled that in the (NBP 2022-2025) the Federal Government had set a 70% broadband penetration for the country by year 2025 and the telecom operators are revving up their investment drive to broadband infrastructure to ensure the realization of the target.
