In furtherance of its statutory mandate, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has invited telecommunications industry stakeholders to the Public Review Workshop, which kicked off today in Lagos on the National Telecommunications Policy 2000 for their inputs during the sessions.
The commission’s invitation, issued on behalf of the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, indicated that the two-day workshop would be held at Marriot Hotel, Ikeja Lagos.
Specifically, the review aims to amend the obsolete provisions in the old policy and align them with emerging technological developments for the attainment of the nation’s broader digital transformation agenda.
The workshop, which is coming following several other regulatory initiatives of the government to align Nigeria’s telecommunications standards with global best practices, is expected to further strengthen Nigeria’s telecommunications sector and further boost its contributions to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and catalyze the drive towards the government’s $1 trillion digital economy target by 2030.

As usual, the event is expected to attract stakeholders from across the nation’s telecommunications and digital economy ecosystem based on the NCC’s antecedents as a regulatory authority with strong penchant for public inputs to its regulatory frameworks over the past years.
