The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has disbursed N3.9 billion in arrears to 91,146 eligible pensioners under the Federal Government’s Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS), in line with the N32,000 pension increment approved for the beneficiaries.
The directorate’s Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi, who confirmed the disbursement to the retirees in a statement on Thursday, stated that the payment covered pensioners across all four major departments under the scheme.
According to him, out of the total disbursements to the retirees, Parastatals Pension Department accounted for the largest share, with N1.9 billion paid to 59,865 beneficiaries, N830 million was released to 12,976 pensioners under the Civil Service Pension Department, N620 million was paid to 9,689 retirees in the Police Pension Department, while N551 million was disbursed to 8,616 pensioners under the Customs, Immigration, and Prisons Pension Department.
The Executive Secretary of the PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya, was quoted as reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to settling outstanding arrears and improving pensioners’ welfare,

The pension administrator said the disbursement aligned with President Tinubu’s reforms, which prioritises timely payment and enhanced care for senior citizens.
Odunaiya assured that PTAD would continue to intensify efforts to ensure that all verified pensioners under the DBS promptly receive their entitlements.
