The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, has stressed the critical role of professionalism in engineering practice as a foundation for Nigeria’s maritime and Blue Economy development.
Mobereola made this remark when a team of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), led by the National President, Engineer Margaret Oguntala, paid a courtesy visit to NIMASA’s management in Lagos.
The maritime expert underscored the importance of engineering expertise in advancing Nigeria’s maritime infrastructure and assured the NSE of NIMASA’s commitment to closer collaboration in line with the Blue Economy mandate.
In her remarks, the NSE President highlighted the NSE’s alignment with the Blue Economy initiative, noting that the society’s vision complements government efforts to harness the vast opportunities in the nation’s marine and maritime sectors.

Oguntala expressed optimism that a stronger collaboration between NSE and NIMASA would foster innovation, enhance infrastructure development, and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
The two leaders promised to deepen the agency’s and engineers professional bodies’ collaboration for the benefit of the maritime sector and its improved contributions to the nation’s economic growth.
