The National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NASUK) in furtherance of its strategic collaboration with stakeholders to close the gap between academic learning and power industry practice.
The MoU, which was signed when the leadership of the Institute led by the Director-General, Mr. Ahmed Nagode, paid a working visit to the management of the university, will help in equipping students and professionals with the practical skills required to thrive in Nigeria’s dynamic power and energy sector.
Specifically, the MoU establishes joint training programmes and research initiatives in specialized areas critical to the power sector, including Electrical Installation and Maintenance – providing students with the knowledge and technical skills to manage modern electrical systems; and Solar Installation and Maintenance – advancing renewable energy adoption in line with Nigeria’s energy transition goals.
Others are, Electrical Distribution Network Operations and Maintenance – ensuring efficiency, safety, and reliability in electricity distribution; Line Maintenance and Cable Jointing – developing hands-on expertise for maintaining Nigeria’s transmission and distribution infrastructure; and Research and Development – fostering innovation to address current and future challenges in the power industry.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, who received the NAPTIN delegation with other principal officers of the university, emphasized the university’s commitment to producing well-rounded graduates who are academically sound and industry-ready.
She expressed optimism that the partnership with NAPTIN would create fresh opportunities for students, researchers, and professionals
In his remarks, NAPTIN’s Director-General reaffirmed the institute’s vision of being Africa’s foremost center of excellence for power training. The partnership, they noted, is directly aligned with NAPTIN’s mandate to build capacity and provide sustainable technical solutions for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).
Through this collaboration, NASUK students will benefit from hands-on training, industry-driven projects, and access to NAPTIN’s state-of-the-art facilities nationwide. The synergy between academia and industry will ensure that graduates are employable, entrepreneurial, and innovative—well-positioned to transform Nigeria’s energy landscape.
