The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Monday approved $45,303,000 for the feasibility study and engineering design of a new transportation route alignment serving the four Western seaports.
The Minister of Transportation, Sa’idu Alkali, made this disclosure during an interactive chat with State House correspondents shortly after the FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa Abuja.
He explained that the proposed route alignment would connect the Badagry Deep Seaport to Tincan, link Tincan to Apapa, and establish connections from the Lekki Seaport to Ijebu-Ode, and extend to Kajola and the Lagos-Kano-Maradi railway project.
The minister said that the initiative was being financed by the government as part of its efforts to bolster the nation’s economic growth by connecting Western ports with the inland regions.

He expatiated: “You are all aware transportation is one of the key priority areas of President Tinubu’s administration, and it is an enabler of economic growth.
“So the Federal Executive Council has granted approval for a detailed feasibility studies and engineering design of a proposed route alignment from Badagry Deep Seaport to Tincan, Tincan to Apapa, Lekki Seaport to Ijebu-Ode and to Kajola”, Alkali added.
According to him, the feasibility study and engineering design contract was awarded at a cost of $45,303,000, and that on completion it will improve the performance of the nation’s economy.
