Bulls Regain Hold On NGX, As Investors Gain N51Bn

Trading on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) closed positive on Tuesday as bulls took over the control of the bourse’s trading session from bears that held sway in the previous day’s tradin session.

Consequently, the All-Share Index (ASI) improved by 0.16% to close at 59,110.02 index points as against 59,014.85 index points recorded in the previous day’s trading session.

Similarly, the report from the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), the market’s supervisor, reflected that the market capitalization of equities grew by N51 billion to close at N32.185 trillion, representing 0.16% gain compared to the N32.134 trillion recorded at the close of the trading session on Monday.

The NGX data showed that the market breadth closed positive as Academy Plc (10.00%) led the gainers’ table and CILEASING (-10.00%) led the losers’ while UBA Plc was the most traded equity by volume and  GTCO was the most traded by value at the end of day’s trading session.

Trading volume also decreased by -34.05% from the previous day’s session as N588.85 million units of shares were traded today.

The NGX reported that the volume traded during the day’s sell-offs and buy-in session totalled 588.85 million for a value of  N8.96 billion in 8,272 deals.

The market indices indicated that the top five gainers at the close of trading on Tuesday include ACADEMY, which gained 10.00% to close at N1.98 per share; while CHAMS gained 10.00% to close at N0.44 per share; GUINEAINS gained 10.00% to close at N0.22 per share; SKYAVN appreciated by 10.00% to close at N7.70 per share; and LEARNAFRCA gained 9.92% to close at N2.66 per share

Conversely, CILEASING led the losers’ table with -10.00% depreciation to close at N4.05 per share; followed by CORNERS, which  was down by -9.82% to close at N1.01 per share; NSLTECH was also down by -8.70% to close at N0.42 per share; VERITASKAP also was down by -8.70% to close at N0.21 per share; and RTBRISCOE, which also depreciated by -8.11% to close at N0.34 per share

The NGX data further reflected that the top ASI gainers based on volume traded were UBA: 78,511,818; GTCO: 65,398,595; and TRANSCORP: 33,706,038 while the top three by value comprised GTCO: N2,107,188,787; UBA: N907,474,129; and ACCESSCORP: N466,626,957.
