SEC’s Investor Clinic To Kick-Off Tomorrow In Ibadan

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Nigeria has announced that it will kick-off its two-day Investor Clinic from tomorrow in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr. Emomotimi Agama, who made the disclosure in Abuja, said the clinic would hold during the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers’ (CIS’) Conference taking place at Jogor Event Centre, Ibadan.

A statement issued by the commission’s Head, External Relations Department, Efe Ebelo, quoted the Director-General as saying that the Clinic will afford investors the opportunity of having various issues relating to their participation in the capital market addressed as well as educating intending investors on the workings of the investment climate.

Agama implored investors to attend with a means of identification such as a NIN slip, International Passport, Driver’s License, etc) evidence of investment as well as passport photograph.

The Director-General said: “It is also an opportunity for investors to attend and resolve issues with their investments, make inquiries, mandate their e-dividend accounts and also directly engage with the capital market players (Stock Brokers, Registrars and Fund Managers).

“We will be meeting with investors during the COS Conference in Ibadan and stock brokers will be on ground to open stock brokerage accounts, registrars will be available to resolve unclaimed dividend issues and mandate accounts for e-dividend.

“Fund Managers will also be on ground to open/manage investment accounts and our staff will also be around to attend to attend to enquiries from investors”, he added.

The Director-General urged investors to take advantage of the opportunity to resolve every pending investment issues they have and also meet with investment advisers for proper guidance

He assured: “It will be an exciting and enlightening two days for the investing public and younger participants. We encourage everyone to key into our programmes to become better equipped for making wise and informed investment decisions.”
