President Bola Tinubu has approved three major projects proposed by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy to enhance telecommunications services nationwide.
The approval of the projects by the President was confirmed during his meeting with ministers at the State House, Abuja.
During the meeting, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, presented updates on three major digital transformation projects being implemented by the ministry.
According to him, the Federal Government has completed resource mobilisation and contracting for the Building Resilient Digital Infrastructure for Growth (BRIDGE) Project, which will facilitate 90,000 kilometres of fibre-optic infrastructure deployment nationwide.

Tijani hinted that the nationwide fibre deployment would begin within the next few weeks.
The minister explained: “We are now at the point where, in a few weeks’ time, we should start laying those fibres. People will start seeing us around the country deploying the infrastructure. This is going to transform Nigeria for good.”
Industry experts believe that successful execution of the project is expected to expand broadband access, improve network reliability and catalyze the ongoing initiatives targeted at boosting the nation’s digital economy.
