Reps Laud CAC On Nigeria’s Corporate Registry System Transformation

The House of Representatives Committee on Commerce has commended the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for the transformational processes it introduced in the nation’s corporate registry system and the attendant benefits to the country.

The commission’s Head of Media unit, Mr Rasheed Mahe, in a statement on Monday indicated that the lawmakers, led by Hon. Femi Fakaye, gave the commendation when they paid an oversight function to the CAC in Abuja.

According to him, the lawmakers commended the Registrar-General of the commission, Barr. Garba Abubakar, and the management team for transforming the CAC and standardizing the nation’s corporate registry system in line with global best standards.

Hon. Fakaye urged the Registrar General to consolidate on the achievements recorded by his team for national socio-economic benefits while some other lawmakers spoke on the need for the management to review some areas of the commission’s operations with a view to enabling the National Assembly to give the needed support.

This is even as the Legislators commended  the commission on sustained enlightenment of the public on its core mandate and achievements recorded so far, especially  in facilitating real time online registration of companies.

In his remarks, the Registrar General restated his commitment to sustaining and improving on the successes achieved so far by the commission and described the year 2020 as the best year for the commission in terms of revenue generation and remittance.

While noting that slash in registration fees is negatively impacting on the commission’s operations, Abubakar expressed optimism that the commission would surmount most of its current challenges, achieve set targets and objectives given the quality of its manpower and their commitment to official responsibilities.

According to him, the commission will continue to ensure improvement of its workforce through capacity building initiatives, provision of adequate work tools and creation of enabling working environment.

The Registrar General also hinted that the commission was planning to deploy a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solution enhance its customer service in line with global best practices.
