Reps Ask AGF To Reconcile Budgetary Proposals

The House of Representatives on Monday asked the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, to reconcile inconsistencies discovered by the Committee on Finance in his office’s budget and resubmit the proposals for deliberations.

The chairman, House Committee on Finance, Hon. James Faleke, gave the directive  after members of the committee had considered the proposed budget and observed some  discrepancies in figures presented by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.

Also, the AGF was also directed to submit the financial details of all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), particularly those of revenue generating agencies accused of non-remittance of monies to the treasury from January to October this year.

This is even as the the nation’s chief accounting officer was asked to submit also report of the mandatory return of 25% to the treasury by revenue generating MDAs from 2014 to date.

Earlier in his budget defence explanations before the committee, the AGF had urged the federal Legislature to review the Fiscal Responsibility Act in order to improve the internally generated revenue (IGR) of all tiers of government.
