The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has advocated the need for stronger collaboration among the nation’s hydrocarbon resources industry’s stakeholders in order to boost its performance based on the rapidly evolving global energy market.

The Chief Executive of the commission, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, gave the charge to the stakeholders in her address at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE 2026) held on Monday in Lagos

She pointed out that the partnership remained crucial to the commission’s regulatory strategy, recalling that the NUPRC management has continued to engage industry leaders through monthly meetings and broad stakeholder consultations in the development of new regulations, guidelines and regulatory frameworks.

Eyesan explained: “We firmly believe that resilient energy systems, sustained investment and long-term growth can only be achieved through strong partnerships.”

She said the commission believed that resilient energy systems, sustained investment and long-term growth can only be achieved through strong partnerships, particularly at a time the global energy market is undergoing unprecedented transformation driven by geopolitical developments, climate considerations, technological disruption, artificial intelligence, changing investment priorities and rising energy demand.

She noted that these developments were not only reshaping how nations produce, transport and consume energy but also presented opportunities for countries willing to embrace innovation, strengthen collaboration and position themselves for emerging energy realities.

The NUPRC boss reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to fostering an enabling regulatory environment that promotes investment, innovation and sustainable development in Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas industry.
