Nigeria’s electricity generation fell to one-month low on Tuesday by 5.87% to 79,872.94MWh compared to 84,849.41MWh generated on Monday.

According to information provided by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the electricity generation situation in the country for the day in review, the energy supplied also fell to 78,835.73MWh on Tuesday.

A further analysis of the electricity data provided by the company showed that peak generation stood at 3,647.4MW (-1.45%) while off-peak generation totalled 2,905.4MW (-13.79%)

The report further clarified that energy generated on Tuesday dropped to 79,872.94MWh, representing -5.87% lower than the preceding day’s output and that energy sent out totalled 78,835.73MWh or -5.84% lower than the Monday’s output.

It is worth noting that the highest frequency for the day was 50.44Hz, while the lowest frequency was 49.02Hz.

For months now, Nigeria’s energy generation and supply has consistently been lower than  the minimum 105,000MWh required to record some level of stability in power supply in the country.

Despite the marginal increase in quantum of power, Nigeria’s energy generation still remained grossly below the minimum 105kMWh required to achieve some level of stability in power supply nationwide.

During the months, Nigerians have been grappling with epileptic power supply, with multiple grid disruptions, causing widespread blackouts across the geo-political zones.
