Nigeria’s Internet Subscribers Hit 114.75Mn

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) reported that Internet users in Nigeria increased to 114,752,357 million in February 2019.

The latest data showed that overall internet users increased by 850,153 in February from the 113,875,204 users recorded in January.

The commission gave these figures in its Monthly Internet Subscribers Data for February posted on its website.

An analysis of the data based on user by network basis showed that Airtel and MTN recorded more internet subscribers during the month under review, while 9mobile and Globacom lost some subscribers formerly using their networks.

Specifically, the data showed that MTN gained more 607,462 new internet users in February, increasing its subscription to 46,538,633 as against 45,931,171 in January.

Airtel came second, gaining 430,990 new users in the month under review and thereby increasing its subscribers’ base to 30,891,518 in February, up from the 30,460,528 level in the preceding month.

However, the commission reported that Globacom’s Internet subscriber base dipped by 114,268 decreasing the telco’s subscription in February to 27,486,271 from 27,600,539 recorded in January.

Similarly, 9Mobile also lost 74,031 internet users in February thereby reducing its subscribers base to 9,808,935 as against 9,882,966 recorded in January.
