The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has commissioned a World-class ICT Park at the University of Ibadan (UI) designed to support innovation, research, and entrepreneurship, particularly in emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Commenting on the techno project, Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, described the ICT Park as part of a broader initiative to promote innovation and strengthen research capacity across the country and represented “a major milestone in our digital transformation journey.”
In his remarks, the commission’s Head of Technical Standards, Engr. Abraham Osadami, said the facility would serve as a “one-stop hub for innovation” that will nurture homegrown digital solutions and support emerging technologies.
Also, the Vice Chancellor of the University, the first tertiary institution in the country, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, commended the NCC for the initiative, saying it will help bridge the digital divide, transform teaching and learning, and foster collaborative efforts to tackle global challenges.
He enthused: “This investment is not just in UI—it is in Nigeria’s future.”
The ICT Park features a range of state-of-the-art facilities, including a 100-seat main hall, five ICT hub halls, collaborative workspaces, and high-capacity computing infrastructure with incubation centers.
