The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) have initiated a collaborative strategy to ensure smooth transition to digital broadcasting in the country.
The Director-General of the corporation, Mr Charles Ebuebu, made this disclosure on Thursday during a press conference on Digital Switch Over (DSO) held in Abuja.
Ebuebu explained that the partnership was designed to achieve the benefits of DSO for Nigeria, and ensure a smooth transition to digital broadcasting.
The broadcaster assured that the funds allocated to the project would be prudently managed to ensure each component of the DSO ecosystem significantly helped in realizing positive digital dividends for the nation.
Describing the DSO project as a catalyst for Nigeria’s socioeconomic transformation, the NBC boss projected that it would also create job opportunities and catalyze the growth of the industry.
He said: “The implementation of precise and comprehensive audience measurement will also enhance marketing efforts and improve content quality.
“Together, we are building a brighter future where every Nigerian will benefit from superior broadcast quality, enriched educational content, and expanded opportunities for creativity and innovation”, he added.
