MTN Nigeria Plc a leading mobile network operator (MNO) has partnered Amazon’s streaming service, Prime Video, to offer Prime Video Mobile Edition, a single-device mobile-only subscription to its subscribers nationwide.
The collaboration will enable the telecom operator’s customers who subscribe to the edition to have access to Prime Video’s full catalogue of 9,000+ movies and 1,500+ TV shows in standard definition, with an affordable ad dedicated package for streaming and downloading.
The MTN’s offering of the Prime Video Mobile Edition package, the first to be offered by any MNO in the country, to its customers is made possible with its collaboration with i-Cell Communications, Vector, and the Mondia Group.
In his remarks, the Chief Digital Officer of MTN Nigeria, Hajia Aisha Umar Mumuni, said: “We are excited to offer Prime Video subscriptions to millions of Nigerians providing them with access to entertainment on their own terms – where and when they want it. Video-on-demand has become a major part of our lives and this launch offer is important to make every customer’s journey to their desired content more accessible and affordable.
“The Prime Video platform boasts thousands of titles with over 150 Nollywood titles already and with several Nigerians Originals currently in the pipeline. We are confident this relationship will bring value to both our customers and the Nigerian movie industry”, she added.
The relationship between MTN Nigeria and Amazon brings together key stakeholders in the IT industry, including i-Cell Multimedia Limited, the mobile VAS Aggregator Licence holder; Vector Telecoms Limited, the mobile service provider; and Mondia Group which is acting as Technical Partner to Amazon in the deal.
