The National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) has renewed the licence of Betway, a leading global online betting and gaming firm, to extend its operations to all states for another five years.
The Director General of the Commission Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila, while presenting the renewed licence to the company on Wednesday in Abuja, lauded its management for complying with regulations guiding the gaming and betting category of its business over the past five years.
While urging the company’s owners to sustain the business ethics, the industry regulator assured the management of the readiness of the commission to continue to extend the needed regulatory support to the company in line with best industry standards.
Speaking on the licence renewal, the Betway Group’s CEO, Anthony Werkman, thanked the commission for the timely renewal of the company’s licence and promised to abide by the regulations and guidelines in the nation’s lottery and gaming business.
He said: “We are honoured to have had the privilege of serving our Nigerian customers in a way that is consistent with our global practices by putting customer satisfaction and responsible gaming at the centre of our operations, so we are truly grateful to the National Lottery Regulatory Commission for extending our licence in Nigeria.

Commenting at the event, the leader of the delegation that received the renewed licence, Mr. Chris Ubosi, spoke on Betway’s commitment to supporting the needy in the course of its operations in demonstration of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
He listed some of the projects the company had executed as part of its CSR programmes as including the donation of relief materials to flood victims in Bayelsa State, provision of portable water in Lagos, and donation of several million’s worth of sports equipment to gyms across Nigeria, among others.
