Tehran has announced that the Strait of Hormuz is now completely open for the passage of all commercial vessels during the remaining period of the current ceasefire on its lingering battle against U.S-Israeli combined forces over the past few weeks.
The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, gave this hint in a statement posted on X on Friday.
The minister stated in the X post: “In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran.”
Araghchi, who linked the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz directly to the fragile truce between the warring parties, stated that the waterway would remain accessible only “for the remaining period of ceasefire” along the pre-designated coordinated route.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no immediate response from Washington to the Iranian declaration. The two-week Iran-US ceasefire is scheduled to expire on 22 April.
It would be recalled that earlier this week, the United States had declared it would begin a naval blockade of the Strait but the action was not seriously followed by President Donald Trump, possibly due to many American’s, including Pope Leo’s, clamour for an urgent end to the war due to its crippling effects on the global economic system.
