The Institute of Directors Nigeria (IoD), a frontline corporate governance Institute and promoter of ethical professional standards in Nigeria, has concluded plans to mark its 40th anniversary with the issue of corporate governance and ethical standards slated for discussions at the Gala of the event.
The Institute’s Director-General/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Dele Alimi, who made this disclosure in a statement issued by the Institute’s Head of Corporate Affairs and Programmes, Dr. Segun Alabi, on Thursday, hinted that the anniversary events scheduled to hold next Wednesday in Lagos, had as its theme ‘Celebrating 40 Years of Visionary Leadership and Corporate Governance.’
The Director-General said: “The year-long celebration is expected to climax with an anniversary gala, scheduled to hold on Wednesday 17th May, 2023 at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites at 5pm prompt.”
According to him, the anniversary gala is planned to serve as a springboard to promote the imperatives of good corporate governance and best practices, while amplifying the contributions of the Institute in the last four decades.
Alimi assured that the anniversary Gala would attract the largest gathering of Nigerian policymakers and leaders in both private and public sectors.
This is even as he stated that the anniversary gala was also expected to feature the presentation of awards to deserving organisations and individuals who had supported the cause of the Institute in the last four decades.
The Director-General said that President Muhammadu Buhari would attend the event as the Special Guest of Honour while his predecessor, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, would serve as the Chairman of the occasion.
