The International Labour Organization (ILO) has hinted of its plans to release a major new report on global progress and persistent challenges in achieving social justice, 30 years after the landmark 1995 World Summit for Social Development (WSSD) in Copenhagen.
The publication, which will be formally published on September 23 this year, will be released ahead of the second WSSD in Doha this November.
According to press release from the global labour organization today, the report offers the most comprehensive assessment to date, tracking advances in poverty reduction, child labour and social protection, while highlighting areas where progress has slowed or stalled, such as informality and inequality.
In addition, it also sets out a forward-looking agenda for placing social justice at the core of policymaking – across finance, industry, health and climate – and stresses the need for stronger cooperation between governments, international institutions and social partners.

Specifically, the ILO stated that the report would be launched at a high-level special event at United Nations headquarters in New York on 23 September, at the sidelines of the Eightieth Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA).
Over the years, the labour organization has been championing social justice initiatives across the global geopolitical zones through sundry reports on gender inequality, workplace discrimination, child labour abuses, forced migration of individuals, hardships of internally displaced persons (IDPs), particularly in war-affected countries, and others with a view to ensuring that their rights are protected.
