The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have revved up their collaboration on the National Single Window (NSW) project, a trade facilitation initiative of the Federal Government aimed at transforming Nigeria’s import and export processes, improve revenue collection, and enhance the country’s competitiveness in global trade.
The NSW, launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in April 2024, offers linkage across government agencies, simplify documentation, enhance transparency, reduce clearance times, and reduce costs for businesses
At a high-level meeting held at the NCS’ headquarters in Abuja, the managements of the agencies reviewed ongoing preparations for the project’s implementation and agreed on practical steps to accelerate system integration ahead of its planned take-off in the first quarter of 2026.
In attendance at the Abuja meeting were the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi ; Executive Chairman of the FIRS, Zacch Adedeji; and Director of the National Single Window Project, Tola Fakolade, alongside senior officials from the institutions.

Welcoming the FIRS delegation, Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale highlighted the invaluable and strategic importance of the project, saying the meeting is convened to exchange ideas and have open discussions that will help the two agencies’ preparations for the NSW implementtion.
Specifically, he explained that the goal of the parley was to develop a modern trade ecosystem through the integration of advanced technology into clearance and compliance processes, ultimately fostering efficiency and reducing bottlenecks in the movement of goods.
In his remarks, Executive Chairman of the FIRS, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, said the collaboration was timely and critical to meeting the project’s tight deadlines.
