FG To Finalize Ondo Section’s A&P Process Of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

The Federal Government has hinted of its plans to finalize the alignment and procurement process for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway section in Ondo State.

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, who gave the hint during a chat with journalists on Wednesday on arrival at the Akure Airport to conclude the alignment of the Lagos/Calabar Coastal Road portion in the state.

A news report from News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted the minister as saying that the Federal Government wants “to conclude the alignment so that we can procure it and start work.”

The minister said that the government had many infrastructure projects in Ondo State, including roads and bridges, alongside the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which will pass through the state from Ogun State.

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is a 700-kilometre project spanning nine states and designed to enhance transportation interconnectivity across the states for the purposes of boosting economic activities  along  the nation’s coastline

The federal government awarded the contract last year to Hitech Construction Company Limited under an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Financing (EPC+F) model, where the contractor assumes most financial and construction risks while the government provides counterpart funding.
