FG, Other Tiers Share N2.257Trn From April 2026 Revenue Accruals

The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) reported on Monday that the three tiers of government shared the sum of N2.257 trillion from the April 2026 Federation Account revenue accruals.

The Director (Press and Public Relations) Department of the Office, Bawa Mokwa, in a statement indicated the revenue was to the federal, state and local government during the May 2026 Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting held in Abuja.

According to the spokesperson, the N2.257 trillion total distributable revenue comprised distributable statutory revenue of N1.260 trillion , distributable Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue of N747.088 billion and Augmentation of N250.000 billion.

Mokwa confirmed that a communiqué issued by the FAAC on the revenue allocations to the three tiers of government showed that total gross revenue of N3.184 trillion was collected in the month under review, and that deduction for cost of collection totalled  N113.756  billion while total transfers, refunds and savings was N813.839 billion.

The committee disclosed that gross statutory revenue of N2.378 trillion was raked in the month, higher than the N1.699 trillion generated in the preceding month by N678.224 billion.

It stated that gross revenue of N806.617 billion was available from the Value Added Tax (VAT) in April this year, higher than the N664.425 billion available in March 2026 by N142.192 billion.

The FAAC further clarified that from the N2.257 trillion total distributable revenue, the Federal Government received N787.351 billion, state governments got N772.360 billion, local governments shared N540.152 billion, while N157.254 billion (13% of mineral revenue) was shared to the benefiting state governments as derivation revenue.

Of the N1.260 trillion distributable statutory revenue, the committee stated that the Federal Government got N580.942 billion compared to the state governments and local governments’ N294.661 billion and N227.172 billion respectively. In addition, it revealed that N157.254 billion (13% of mineral revenue) was shared to the benefiting states as derivation revenue.

In addition, the FAAC reported that from the N747.088 billion distributable Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue, the Federal Government received N74.709 billion, while the state governments shared N410.898 billion and the local governments got N261.481 billion.

The committee also confirmed in the communique that from the N250 billion Augmentation, N131.700 billion was shared to the Federal Government compared to the N66.800 billion and N51.500 billion distributed to the state governments and local government respectively

The FAAC reported that in April 2026, Companies income Tax (CIT), CGT, SDT, Import Duty, Oil and Gas Royalty and Value Added Tax (VTA) significantly increased while Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT), Hydrocarbon Tax (HT) significantly decreased just as Excise Duty and CET Levies marginally dropped.
