The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has disbursed N4.8 billion to the six Area Councils and other stakeholders in the Federal Capita; Territory as their statutory allocations for the month of December 2023.
The six Area Councils comprised Abaji, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali, and Abuja Municipal (AMAC).
The disbursed amounts to the Area Councils represented a slight increase compared to the N4.72 billion shared in the month of November 2023.
The FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, gave these figures while presiding over the 185th Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting held on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to her, a breakdown of the figures approved during the JAAC meeting indicated that the sum of N2,364,151,892.54 billion was made available for distribution to the six Area Councils, while the sum of N2,452,076,023.02 billion was made available to other stakeholders, bringing the total sum to N4,816,227,915.56 billion.
A further analysis of the disbursements to the six Area Councils showed that the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) received N549,980,396.03 million, while Gwagwalada got N371,095,234,.30 million, and Kuje received N402,341,400.14 million.
Other Area Councils include Bwari Area Council, which received N364,674,660.98 million, Abaji got N313,335,126.30 million; and Kwali received N362,725,074.79 million, bringing the total sum to N2,364,151,892.54 billion disbursed to the six Area Councils.
During the month under review, Mahmoud confirmed that the FCTA also made disbursements to primary school teachers, which gulped N2,069,585,348.67 billion; 15 percent pension funds took N226,478,989.57 million; one percent training fund gulped N48,162,279.15.
Others include 10 percent employer pension contribution, which gulped N107,849,405.63 million, bringing the total sum to N2,452,076,023.02 billion.
