Boeing To Assist Nigerian Airlines On Insurance Coverage

Boeing International Corporation has expressed its readiness to assist airlines in Nigeria in accessing adequate aircraft insurance coverage through collaboration with aircraft lessors and international financiers.

The corporation’s Sales Director and Africa Region Commercial Airlines, Mr Moore Ibekwe, gave this hint during a four-day meeting of the ‘Boeing Lessor Forum’ which kicked off on Sunday in Dublin, Ireland.

According to him, Boeing assisting the Nigerian airlines in their risk-underwriting obligations will significantly contribute to their efforts to mitigate operational risks and protect them against uninsured losses.

Ibekwe said: “One key aspect of aviation insurance in Nigeria is the requirement for aircraft operators to maintain adequate insurance cover.

“Boosting the capacity of aviation insurance in Nigeria is essential to ensuring stability and safety through financial soundness of insurance operators in the sector.

“This meeting is part of efforts Nigerian government is making to address issues related to aircraft insurance in the aviation sector,” he added.

The industry top player commended Nigeria for securing the first position in the Cape Town Convention compliance index rating in Africa, adding that efforts by lessors to track funds in the Nigerian aviation sector is no longer a challenge.

In her remarks, the organizer of ‘Nigerian Aviation Forum’, Ms Rose Lereece, advised the delegation from Nigeria to explore the opportunities availed by the event to attract businesses that would catalyze  Nigerian aviation sector’s growth and improve its contributions to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on a sustainable basis.
