Investment experts at Bancorp Securities Limited, a leading stockbroking and investment services provider in Nigeria, have predicted that trading in the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) this week will maintain positive momentum this week but with some level of cautious bias on investors.

The experts, in the firm’s ‘Weekly Stock Recommendation 13th-17th July, 2026’ forwarded to our correspondent on Monday hinged the investor bias sentiment on their assessment of the the upcoming June inflation report and consolidate the strong gains recorded in the previous week’s trading sessions.

The analysts projected: “We expect the equities market to trade with a positive but cautious bias this week as investors assess the upcoming June inflation report and consolidate the strong gains recorded in the previous week.

“While some profit-taking may emerge following last week’s rally, continued interest in fundamentally strong stocks should provide support to the broader market. Overall, market performance is expected to remain driven by inflation expectations, valuation opportunities and company-specific developments”, they added.

Reflecting on the market performance last week, the investment researchers noted that the Nigerian equities market rebounded strongly during the week, reversing three consecutive weeks of losses as buying interest returned across all major sectors. Improved valuations following the recent correction supported renewed demand for large-cap and fundamentally strong counters.

As a result of the trading trend, they recalled that the NGX All-Share Index (ASI) advanced by 6.35% week-on-week to close at 243,798.76 points, while market capitalisation increased by the same margin to N156.44 trillion. Although trading volume declined by 4.52% to 3.65 billion shares and total deals moderated by 2.59% to 251,861, transaction value rose sharply by 42.86% to N220.57 billion.

The experts further clarified: “The increase in value despite lower volume indicates that activity shifted towards higher-value transactions during the week. Financial Services remained the dominant driver of market activity, accounting for 79.48% of traded volume and 66.81% of transaction value.

“FIRSTHOLDCO, ZENITHBANK and FIDELITYBK collectively accounted for 47.85% of total market volume and 55.23% of transaction value, highlighting the concentration of activity within selected banking counters”, they added.
