Nigeria’s fast-growing commercial airline, Air Peace and Brazilian aviation company, Embraer SA, announced on Wednesday the signing of an order for 10 E195-E2 jets worth $2.12 billion if all purchase rights are exercised.
According to the terms of the deal, the order will be included in Embraer’s backlog for the second quarter of this year.
Speaking on the investment deal, Air Peace Chairman, Allen Onyema, said that the deal would make the airline the first operator of E195-E2 in Africa.
He enthused: “We already have the ERJ145s in our fleet, so we understand the high standards of Embraer products.”
Air Peace is Nigeria’s largest commercial operator with 23 planes currently, now operating daily flights to Accra, Dakar, Banjul and Freetown.
Established in 2013, the airline’s visibility in Africa’s aviation business space is growing by the day, particularly in the West African sub-region.
