The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has again informed electricity customers in the country on the causes of the national grid collapse experienced around 1:52 pm on Tuesday in many parts of the country.
The company, in a statement issued about two hours after the grid collapse by its spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, linked it to series of lines and generators trippings.
She stated: “This followed a series of lines and generators trippings that caused instability of the grid and, consequently, the partial disturbance of the system.
“The data from the National Control Centre (NCC) revealed that a part of the grid was not affected by the bulk power disruption.
“TCN engineers are already working to quickly restore bulk power supply to the states affected by the partial disturbance. Presently, bulk power supply has been restored to Abuja, at 2.49pm, and we are gradually restoring to other parts of the country”, Mbah assured.
As usual, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) and some other electricity distribution companies (DisCos) alerted their customers in Notices about the grid collapse.
Available data showed that this year alone, the national grid had collapsed 10 times, plunging the country into incessant darkness for hours and in some regions like the North, several weeks.
