The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Geometric Power Ltd, Aba, Abia State, Prof. Barth Nnaji, on Friday promised electricity consumers in the state of improved power supply and continued retention of the current tariff regime.
Nnaji gave this assurance in a meeting between the company’s management with some stakeholders at the Osisioma, Aba office of the company.
He said: “The tariff we are still going to use here is the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) approved tariff.
“There is what is called service level; if you are getting power above 18 hours which our own will certainly be more than that, then there is a certain tariff you are going to pay.
“We are not going to go above regulation. Geometric’s presence in Aba is not about money but about putting the people on the path of progress”, Nnaji assured.
Nnaji, a former Minister of Power, also agreed with the advice by some stakeholders that the company’s customer forum should be made constant to ensure they build better relations.
In his remarks at the forum, the Managing Director, Aba Power Ltd, the distribution arm of Geometric Power Ltd, Patrick Umeh, said that the company had plans to ensure its supply of power in Aba was improved and constant.
According to him, in order to boost power supply the company would use a loop-system of connecting its customers such that if their power supply was bridged from one end, they would get supply from another end.
He further hinted that the company had, through a Power Purchase Agreement with Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), applied for 100 MW to ensure constant power supply to Aba pending commencement of power generation by its plants.
Umeh, who promised to give customers satisfactory service with their cooperation and support, canvassed stronger ties between the company and its customers as a means of checking fraudulent acts by company’s personnel and infrastructure vandalism, which had negatively affected power supply services.
Speaking during the meeting, Secretary, Association of Leather/Allied Industrialists of Nigeria (ALAIN), Mr. Ken Anyanwu, promised the company’s management of Geometric that members of the association would protect power firm’s infrastructure and grow its customer base if given better services.
