As the alleged fraudulent act levelled against DCP Abba Kyari, by a Nigerian influencer and alleged fraudster, Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi, continues to elicit public reactions, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was reported to have confirmed that the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had contacted it to arrest the police officer.

In the case marked 2:21-cr-00203, USA VS Abba Alhaji Kyari dated April 29, 2021, which was opened on Wednesday, the FBI asked a US District Court in California to order the arrest of Kyari for 10 days.

Saharan Reporters on Friday quoted a source in the anti-graft agency, who spoke with its correspondent on the condition of anonymity, as saying that no arrest can be made by the agency since Kyari is a police officer and that the case was not within the capacity of the EFCC but for the police to handle.

“FBI has contacted EFCC, asking that we arrest Abba Kyari but we told them that it is a police matter” the source reportedly said

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police has ordered an internal review of all the allegations levelled against the police officer by Hushpuppi.

The suspected internet fraudster told the FBI that he gave a bribe to Kyari to facilitate the arrest and imprisonment of a member of his online fraud gang identified as Chibuzo Vincent.

Kyari has, however, denied the allegation claiming that he did not receive any money from the fraudster who was arrested in Dubai in June 2020 over alleged financial crimes.
