The Capital Market Support Committee on COVID-19 (CMSCC) on Friday donated 150 units of infrared thermometer to Enugu State Government for the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic infections in schools.

The items were presented by the leader of the committee, Chief Patrick Ezeagu, to the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Cecelia Ezeilo, at the Government House, Enugu.

Ezeagu, who represented the National Chairman of the committee, Mr. Ariyo Olushekun, pointed out that the SEC had noted the giant stride by the Enugu State Government in the fight against COVID-19 and commended the “government’s efforts toward flattening the curve.”

He explained that SEC constituted the CMSCC to mobilise funds from the capital market communities in Nigeria to support the fight against the pandemic, adding that the fight against the pandemic should be collective such that all Nigerians should lend support to government’s efforts to wipe out the pandemic.

He said: ”In furtherance of the mandate, the committee hereby extends its support through the donation of 150 units of infrared thermometer for use in schools.

”As schools are about to resume for academic activities, the infrared will help to checkmate the spread of the pandemic among the students. Together, we shall overcome this pandemic,” Ezeagu said.

In her response, the deputy governor thanked the committee for its gesture, saying that “I’m sure that government’s efforts in the fight against the pandemic prompted this donation at this point of school reopening.

“On behalf of the people of the state and the governor, I say thank you for this wonderful and timely gesture”, Ezeilo said.
