The Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC), in collaboration with Facebook and Digivate 360, has trained about 50 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) on growing their businesses leveraging digital media.
The training which was held in Lagos at the Facebook NG Hub, attracted participants from various sectors of the SME value chain nationwide.
Commenting on the digital capacity building event for the SME owners, the NACC Communications Executive, Ebuka Ugochukwu, said that the training became very important in view of the Chamber’s agenda SMEs inclusion in its business model.
He explained: “We have come to understand that SMEs are the backbone of any economy. We do expect that as these businesses grow, they will be able to contribute more to the economy and leverage the connections and opportunities that we provide them to scale up”.
The NACC’s spokesperson recalled that when Zuckerberg visited the country in 2016, one of his objectives was to try to see how Facebook could empower SMEs in the country, adding that that objective resonated with the chamber’s commitment to empower businesses with digital skills to grow, manage their brand and increase revenue amongst others.
He clarified further: “As a Chamber which stands as a pillar of the relationship between the United States of America and Nigeria, serving as an important catalyst in bringing together people and ideals to bolster bilateral commercial relations between Nigeria and the United States, we organize other trainings and events, one of which is a monthly breakfast meeting, where participants are exposed to networking and creating new business connections for the growth of their enterprise.
“It is very important that people know how we are changing the business landscape so they can reach out to us on how we can help them scale up. We’re just done with the first phase and we are full of optimism for the advanced stages of the training which will commence soon”, Ebuka added.
