The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), has put the nation’s gross Pension Fund Assets under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) as at June 30 this year at N8.232 trillion as against N7.943 trillion grossed in the first quarter.
The figures were contained in the agency’s ‘Pension Asset and Membership Data (Q2 2018)’ report released in Abuja.
The Bureau disclosed further that of the total pension fund assets, the Federal Government (FGN) bonds accounted for the highest percentage at 49.08 percent while Treasury bills had 20.76 percent weight and Domestic Ordinary Shares with 8.62 per cent weight while Green bonds has the least with 0.09 per cent weight.
The official statistics producing and reporting agency reported further that during the quarter under review, 8,136,202 workers were registered under the pension scheme compared to the 7,975,976 enrollees in the first quarter.
On the age distribution of enrollees, the NBS stated that enrollees in the age distribution of 30 to 39 had the highest percentage composition closely followed by participants within the age bracket of 40-49 years and 50-59 years.
It reported further that enrollees with ages above 65 years had the least percentage composition in the period under review.
