Nigeria’s Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Dr. Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, has been elected Chairman of the Association of African Accountants-General during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association held in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Ogunjimi secured a decisive victory in the election, polling 83 percent of the total votes cast compared with Tanzania’s 11 percent, while the Republic of The Gambia got 6 percent of the votes.
The Director, Press and Public Relations Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), Bawa Mokwa, stated that his election was a demonstration of the confidence reposed in his leadership, professional competence, and commitment to strengthening public financial management across Africa, and also reflected the recognition of Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and reforms in public sector financial administration.
As chairman of the association, Ogunjimi is expected to provide strategic leadership in advancing collaboration among member countries, promoting best practices in public financial management, and strengthening institutional capacity across the continent.

The OAGF staff congratulated the AGF on this significant achievement and expressed confidence that his leadership would further enhance cooperation among African nations in advancing sound public financial management.
