The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reported 892,547 new active mobile phone lines in March this year, thereby raising the total active mobile phone lines in the country to 148,854,338.
The total active mobile lines in February stood at 147,961,791.
These figures were among the key information contained in the Commission’s monthly Subscribers Operator Data for the month posted on its website.
The Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) for active mobile lines during the month maintained the 217,566 users as was recorded in February.
According to NCC, the number of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) also rose from 81,498 in February to 85,185 in March.
In addition, the industry regulator reported that in March, the teledensity, which is the number of connected telephone lines for every 100 individuals living within an area, which varies across the country, rose marginally from 106.00 in the preceding month to 106.64 in March.
It also reported the number of connected mobile lines in March rose 238, 116, 977, up from the 237,621,583 subscribers recorded in February.
The commission reported further that CDMA for connected lines stood at 3,586.095 in March, the same figure recorded in January.
Similarly, the report also showed that the number of fixed wired/wireless for connected lines in March rose to 355,485 as against the 345.195 recorded in the preceding month..
This is even as the NCC reported that Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) for connected lines rose to 542,063 in March, up from 515,231 in February, adding that fixed wired/wireless for active mobile lines decreased from the 137,570 recorded in February to 136,781 in the month under review.
