Investment researchers at Bancorp Securities Limited, a leading investment and stockbroking consulting firm in Nigeria, on Monday projected that trading in the Nigerian equities market would be mildly positive in the coming week, supported by improving macro sentiment, ongoing earnings releases, and selective institutional positioning.
The experts, in the firm’s ‘Weekly Stock Recommendation: March 9th– March 13th 2026’ circulated to our correspondent also anticipated that as full-year 2025 earnings releases and dividend declarations continue to enter the market, investor activity would remain driven by dividend-hunting and selective accumulation in fundamentally strong counters.
According to them, interest may persist across key sectors, with recent geopolitical developments potentially supporting domestic upstream oil and gas players.
However, the investment researchers predicted that profit-taking may continue across consumer and mid-cap stocks that have recorded significant price appreciation in recent weeks.

The experts hinged the forecast on the prevailing macro environment, which last week reflected strengthening external buffers alongside continued FX market adjustments and ongoing banking sector reforms.
Similarly, they noted that rising foreign exchange reserves signalled improving external stability, although currency volatility and structural financial sector reforms remained key drivers shaping investor sentiment across the Nigerian equities market.
The analysts recalled that in the previous week, the equities market rebounded, reversing the previous week’s losses as investor sentiment improved across three sectors out of the five sectors; the NGX All-Share Index (NGX-ASI) advanced by 2.15% week-on-week to close at 196,968.15 points, while market capitalization increased to N126.44 trillion, reflecting a gain of approximately N2.67 trillion for the week.
In the week under review, the market recorded gains in four of the five trading sessions, supported by renewed positioning in select large-cap and mid-cap equities.
But then, despite the positive performance, trading activity moderated compared to the previous week as total volume traded declined to 3.70 billion shares valued at N177.69 billion across 370,980 deals, representing weaker turnover relative to the prior week’s activity levels.
