Based on the current micro and macroeconomic indices of the nation’s broader economy in the last few weeks, investment analysts at Bancorp Securities Limited, one of Nigeria’s investment research and stockbroking consultancy services providers, have predicted that trading in the Nigerian Exchange this week  is expected to stay positive this week.

In the firm’s ‘Weekly Stock Recommendation 27th-31st October 2025’ Note circulated to our correspondent on Monday, the experts hinged their forecast on the improving macro conditions, including the delisting of Nigeria from FATF’s “grey list” last week, and strong Q3 earnings momentum, with buying interest in Consumer Goods and tier-one banks.

However, they anticipated that mild profit-taking may hit Industrial Goods, while Insurance could see mixed performance amid rotation into stronger, more liquid stocks.

Reflecting on the local bourse’s performance last week, the investment experts recalled that the bullish momentum on the local bourse strengthened further, with the NGX All-Share Index (NGXASI) advancing by 4.47% to extend its positive run for the seventh consecutive week, and attributed the sustained uptrend to impressive corporate announcements, which continued to boost investor confidence.

According to the experts, this renewed optimism pushed the broad market index beyond the 150,000-point threshold to close at 155,645.05 points, reflecting the upbeat sentiment, market activity improved significantly, as total traded volume and value increased by 52.58% and 69.53%, respectively.

They noted that in the week under review, a total of 3.69 billion units valued at NGN129.89 billion were exchanged across 148,077 deals, adding that as a result of the broad-based buying interest and heightened market participation, investors’ wealth expanded by NGN4.32 trillion, lifting market capitalization to NGN98.79 trillion from NGN94.56 trillion recorded in the previous week.

On the market outlook this week, the analysts projected: “The local bourse performance is expected to remain positive this week, supported by improving macroeconomic conditions, and sustained momentum from the ongoing earnings season.

“The Consumer Goods sector is likely to lead market activity as investors continue to take positions in fundamentally strong counters in anticipation of solid Q3 performance. While the Industrial Goods sector is expected to experience a short-term pullback as investors take profits from recent rallies in cement counters.

“In the Banking space, renewed accumulation is anticipated, particularly among tier-one banks following their recent pullbacks. Meanwhile, the Insurance sector may show mixed performance, as rotation into more liquid and fundamentally stronger counters is expected. Overall, market sentiment is expected to stay positive buoyed by solid corporate performance, and broad-based investor participation across key sectors”, the Bancorp Securities experts added.
