The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has reported that Nigeria’s crude oil production dropped to 1.39 million barrels per day in September this year, representing the second consecutive month of dipping crude output by the country.
According to the oil cartel’s latest Monthly Oil Market Report released on Monday, the September output indicated a decline from 1.434 mbpd recorded in August, falling below Nigeria’s OPEC allocation of 1.5 mbpd and remained the lowest output by Nigeria in seven months.
The organization stated that the production figures were “obtained through direct communication with Nigerian authorities”, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
It would be recalled that the commission had earlier attributed the drop in crude output to the disruptions caused by the three-day industrial action embarked upon the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) at the Dangote Refinery.

The industrial dispute also caused the shutdown of several production and export facilities, disrupting output and export schedules.
