Investment researchers at Bancorp Securities Limited, a leading investment research and consulting services provider in Nigeria, have predicted that based on the current micro and macroeconomic factors in the country, trading on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) this week would be positive with promising returns for investors.
The experts, in the firm’s ‘Weekly Stock Recommendation: 28th July – 1st August 2025’ circulated to our correspondent on Monday hinged their forecast on strong investor sentiment and earnings being churned out to investors by listed entities on the exchange following the ongoing release of their financial statements.
The analysts projected: “We expect the market’s positive momentum to continue, supported by the solid earnings released so far and anticipation of more results in the coming days. Investor sentiment remains strong, with many positioning ahead of potential dividend declarations.
“However, with signs of weakening participation from technical indicators, some short-term profit-taking or sector rotation may occur. Overall, the outlook remains broadly positive as long as earnings continue to reflect growth and stability”, they added.

Last week, the experts recalled that the equities market sustained its bullish run, supported by strong corporate earnings released so far with notable gains in BUACEMENT, PRESCO, WAPCO, DANGSUGAR, and FIRSTHLDCO, among others, which pushed the NGX-ASI up by 2.18% week-on-week, to close at 134,452.93 points.
In addition, the market capitalization appreciated by N1.81 trillion, settling at N85.05 trillion but the analysts noted that despite the positive move in the index, trading activity declined sharply.
Specifically, the local bourse’s total volume traded fell by 78.91%, while value traded dipped by 77.58%, with 3.69 billion units exchanged for N112.26 billion across 138,250 deals, suggesting that fewer participants were involved in the rally compared to the preceding week’s participation in the trading sessions.
