The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tanko Yusuf Sununu, along with senior directors from the Ministry of Education, is representing Nigeria at the ongoing Digital Government Africa Summit in Lusaka, Zambia.

The ministry’s Director, Press & Public Relations, Mrs Folasade Boriowo, in a statement issued on Friday about the summit, indicated that the minister’s participation at forum demonstrated Nigeria’s commitment to leveraging digital technologies to enhance governance, improve educational outcomes, and drive national development.

According to her, Sununu maintained that the Ministry was determined to explore potential collaborations that can support Nigeria’s digital education agenda and contribute to the larger African vision of a digitally transformed future.

The Summit featured ministerial delegations and key industry partners from across the continent to discuss the future of digital transformation in Africa.

Boriowo clarified that building on the success of the inaugural ministerial e-government and digital skills forum, hosted in October 2023 under the leadership of Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, this year’s event drew participants from over 30 African countries, including Nigeria.

Analysts believe that with digital transformation across sectors emerging as a top priority for African governments, the summit provides a critical platform for dialogue and collaboration.

The Digital Government Africa Summit stands out for its unique, meetings-based format, where participating industry partners engage in pre-scheduled one-on-one discussions with ministerial representatives.

These Business-to-Government (B2G) meetings focus on fostering direct partnerships and solutions between ministries, including those from education, interior, finance, ICT, and e-government units, and the private sector.

The opportunity to hold such focused meetings ensures maximum return on investment for both government and industry participants, while driving forward digital initiatives aimed at transforming key sectors.
