The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigeria Shippers’ Council (NSC) have restated their commitment to collaborate in enhancing the Electronic Call-Up System in the maritime industry for improved efficiency and performance of the industry.
The Executive Secretary-CEO of the NSC, Barr. Pius Akutah, who gave this hint when he led a team of the Council on a courtesy visit to the NPA, harped on the need for effective collaboration among the industry stakeholders in order to achieve the national and global economic goals of the industry.
Akutah pledged the commitment of the Council to consistently engage with industry stakeholders in line with government’s efforts to improve the business environment within the ports, and by so doing make Nigeria’s seaports more efficient for shipping haulage business.
In his remarks, the NPA’s Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, highlighted some of the new initiatives of the Authority, including the adoption of Electronic Call-Up System for haulage trucks operating within the maritime Industry.
The industry expert maintained that there was also need for further partnerships in line with efforts to take the industry to enviable heights.
He promised that together with the maritime industry stakeholders, the NPA would continue to work for a more efficient port system in Nigeria for the overall benefit of the nation’s economy.
