Ogun State Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, has appealed to professionals in the country to offer useful advice and suggestions on how to sustain the growing economy of the Gateway State.
Onasanya made the appeal when he received in audience the executive members of the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), Ogun State chapter, and its affiliate bodies, led by its Chairman, Alhaji Ebun Atinuke, during a courtesy visit to his office.
According to him, such advice is crucial especially at this point in time when the economy of the State is growing in leaps and bounds.
.The HoS noted that Ogun State had been recording growth based on the strategic plans encapsulated in the five pillars of I.S.E.Y.A. that the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration had implemented since his assumption of office, stressing that professionals are needed to continually offer expert advice, as the soundness of any policy depends on the quality of the advice offered to make it effective.
Onasanya emphasized that the present administration remained worker-friendly, as all its policies are geared towards the welfare of the citizens, exemplified by the various intervention programmes and palliatives put in place for the citizenry to cushion the effects of the increase in pump prices of fuel, with particular reference to the launch of e-bikes and tricycles by the state government on Wednesday.
He called on the APBN members, as seasoned and consummate administrators, thoroughbred professionals, and movers and shakers of the economy, to continue to bring their professionalism to bear, noting that with the body in place, government policies will always be enriched.
This is even as he noted the contributions of members of the group to the yearly state budgets, assuring that the state government will continue to partner with them in terms of policy-making, and urged them not to shirk their responsibility of grooming younger generations through student mentoring projects.
The HoS said: “With this kind of body, government policies will always be enriched. We are lucky to have you because we need you now more than ever as Ogun State is growing fast by the day with over 6,000 industries. This is because we have a worker-friendly governor whose policies, actions, plans, words, and deeds tend towards making life comfortable for the people, and I urge you to keep partnering with the government for the betterment of society.”
Also, he charged the body to address the incidents of incessant building collapses being witnessed in the country by constitution monitoring policy teams to swing into action to make their existence felt more in the building sector.
He assured them of the government’s readiness to partner with them in the area of capacity building, which is sine qua non for the present administration.
Earlier in his remarks, the APBN leader commended the governments, both at the federal and state levels, for the steps taken so far to turn around the economy, as well as various intervention programmes to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
Atinuke also praised the Ogun State government for keying into the aspirations and mindsets of the Federal Government, as well as other measures to improve the lot of the citizens, especially with the recent commissioning of e-bikes and tricycles, and pleaded for more to be done.
