Pension Fund Assets Hit N7,515Mn In Q4, 2017 – NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) today reported that the total Pension Fund Assets under management as at Q4 2017 stood at N7,515 million as against N7,164 million value recorded as the preceding quarter of the year.

This is even as the Bureau also disclosed that Retirement Savings Account (RSA) membership for the quarter indicated that 7,823,911 workers were registered under the pension scheme compared to 7,710,564 registered workers in the third quarter.

According to the official statistics producing agency in the latest Pension Asset and Management Data, the decomposition of the assets on weight basis showed that the FGN Bonds had the highest weight percentage of 53.81% of the total pension fund assets and was closely followed by Treasury Bills with 15.68 percentage weight.

Also, the domestic ordinary shares with weight percentage of 8.94% followed while agency bonds had the least with 0.08% weight.

The NBS also reported that Participants within the age distribution 30-39yrs had the highest percentage composition closely followed by participants within the age bracket of 40-49yrs and 50-59yrs while participants above 60 years had the least percentage composition.

The pension fund assets were invested in various asset classes by approved existing scheme (AES), closed pension fund administrators, retirement savings account (RSA) active fund as well as RSA retiree fund.
