Adora Umeoji Emerges Zenith Bank’s First Female GMD/CEO

The Board of Zenith Bank Plc has appointed Dr. Adora Umeoji as the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank.

Umeoji, who before her new appointment served as the Deputy Managing Director of the bank, and has now become the first female GMD/CEO of the leading deposit money bank (DMB), succeeded Dr. Ebenezer Oneagwu.

The bank announced the takeover of the GMD position by Umeoji in a regulatory notice forwarded to the industry regulator

According to the bank’s Board of Directors,  the appointment of the new GMD/CEO will take effect from June 1, 2024, subject to approval by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The Board stated: “She takes over from Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, whose tenure expires on May 31, 2024. The appointment is consistent with the bank’s tradition and succession strategy of grooming leaders from within.”
