Investors Gain N17Bn, As NGX Sustains Bullish Momentum

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) closed positive on Wednesday at the end of trading session amid buy-in and sell-offs of stocks largely dominated by bulls, which impacted on the market’s breadth performance.

Data from the equities market’s supervisors, the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), indicated that the All-Share Index (ASI) traded 0.05% higher to close at 55,769.28 index points as against 55,738.35 index points recorded on Tuesday’s trading session.

Similarly, the market capitalization of equities gained N17 billion to close at N30.367 trillion, representing a 0.05% gain compared to the N30.350 trillion recorded in the previous day’s trading session.

According to the NGX, the market breadth closed positive as VERITASKAP (10.00%) led the gainers, NASCON, with a -9.79% depreciation in share price, led the losers while ACCESS HOLDINGS Plc was the most traded equity  by volume at the end of today’s session.

A further analysis of the market’s indices showed that the volume of stocks traded totalled 661.51 million with a value of N18.99 billion transacted in 10,024 deals

 The indices also reflected that the top five ASI gainers were VERITASKAP, which gained 10.00% to close at N0.22 per share; JAIZBANK, that appreciated by 10.00% to close at N1.21 per share; MCNICHOLS that gained 10.00% to close at N0.77 per share; CONOIL, which share value appreciated by 9.96% to close at N57.95 per share; and MRS, which also gained 9.93% to close at N44.85 per share

On the flip side, the data indicated that the top five ASI losers’ table was topped by NASCON, which was down by -9.79% to close at N15.20 per share; RTBRISCOE was down by -9.76% to close at N0.37 per share; GLAXOSMITH depreciated by -9.58% to close at N7.55 per share; CAVERTON, which lost -9.35% to close at N1.26 per share; and DEAPCAP, that was down by -9.09% to close at N0.20 per share

The NGX listed the top three traded stocks by volume as ACCESSCORP: 98,730,824; UBA: 90,198,594; and ZENITHBANK: 44,535,182; while the top three in terms of value comprised ZENITHBANK: N1,262,914,766; ACCESSCORP: N1,194,656,226; and GTCO: N1,129,025,833
