Global leading technology solutions provider and philanthropist, Bill Gates, has invested $902 million as a minority shareholder in Heineken Holding NV, the majority shareholder in the world’s second largest brewer.
Disclosure on the deal based on filing with the Dutch capital market regulator indicated that the Microsoft investor acquired 3.8%b equity in Heineken Holding NV.
The filing showed that Bill Gates bought 6.65 million shares in the Heineken Holding in his individual capacity and 4.18 million through the Bill &Melinda Gates Foundation Trust.
Bloomberg reports that the shares are worth €848.2 million ($902 million) at the share’s February 17 closing price.
Recently, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust invested in Dutch online grocer – Picnic BV –as well as holds 1.34% stake in Dutch fertilizer producing company – OCI NV.
Available statistics indicate that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust owns over 39.26 million shares in Microsoft valued at approximately $9.41 billion.
