South Africa-based renewable energy company, WiSolar, has announced the launch of WiGo, its hybrid prepaid solar electricity platform for Nigeria and South Africa as part of its drive to provide environment-friendly electricity to millions of consumers in the two largest African economies.

Through the green digital utility platform, WiSolar simplifies the delivery of solar electricity and making clean electricity easily accessible and as commonplace as home WiFi.

According to a news report by Renewable Energy Magazine, an online medium, WiGo users will be able to register and sign in to buy prepaid solar electricity tokens or even recharge remotely, view electricity top up history, and view solar performance from anywhere on the mobile app.

The report also indicated that interested individuals and companies can also partner with WiSolar to become partner merchants and be entitled to earn commissions on packages sold while partner installers on the other hand can earn commission on installations and maintenance.

In addition, such individuals and companies can view orders and easily withdraw commissions from their wallets straight to their bank accounts even as partner developers and property owners will be able to view customers, earn commissions on prepaid tariffs, and determine prepaid tariffs for tenant solar usage.

Also, developers and property owners can get improved cash flow by having electricity used through the prepaid metre paid back to the owner.

Speaking on the launch of the innovative digital app, the Founder and CEO of WiSolar, Tonye Irims, said: “One of our commitments as a tech company and startup is the goal to ensure that we contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and to contribute in our own little way of empowering solar electricity users and bringing the same closer to people across Africa.”

He explained that the launch of the mobile app was a furtherance of the company’s commitment and drive to democratize the delivery of solar electricity, adding that the aim is to make the availability of solar electricity easily available and affordable to anyone across Africa.
