Equities Market Closes Bullish, As Investors Gain N992Bn

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) closed positive at the end of Wednesday’s trading session as the All-Share Index (ASI) rose by 3.99% to close at 59,985.10 index points as against 58,163.55 index points recorded in the previous day’s trading session.

Consequently, the market capitalization appreciated by N992 billion to close at N32.662 trillion, a 3.13% gain compared to the N31.670 trillion recorded at the close of trading session on Tuesday.

According to the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), the market breadth closed positive as INTERNATIONAL BREWERIES (10.00%) led gainers, PHARM DEKO (-9.65%) led losers while UBA Plc was the most traded equity by volume and GTCO the most traded by value at the end of the day’ss session.

The official data on the trading session from the NGX indicated that the total volume of stocks traded stood at 1.29 billion valued at N21.08 billion that exchanged hands in 11,947 deals

A further analysis of the NGX trading indices showed that INTBREW led the gainers’ table with  10.00% to close at N14.30 per share; STERLING gained 10.00% to close at N30.80 per share; TRANSCOHOT appreciated by 10.00% to close at N1.98 per share; DANGSUGAR gained 10.00% to close at N17.05 per share; and FBNH gained 10.00% to close at N30.80 per share

The NGX data also reflected that the top five ASI losers were led by PHARMDEKO; which was down by -9.65% to close at N3.60 per share; followed by CWG; which depreciated by -9.44% to close at N1.26 per share; NNFM, which also dropped by -8.66% to close at N0.47 per share; BUACEMENT, also down by -6.52% to close at N1.24 per share; and ARDOVA, which was down by -5.06% to close at N0.22 per share

The three top traded stocks by volume were UBA: 230,764,290; GTCO: 125,469,900; ZENITHBANK: 119,143,503 while the top three by value comprised GTCO: N4,204,591,278; ZENITHBANK: N3,971,590,320: and UBA: N2,744,215,796
