In preparation for the enforcement of the government’s NIN-SIM integration directive, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami), has urged citizens and legal residents to use the next few days to ensure that they complete the linkage.

To facilitate hitch-free exercise, the Minister has further directed that the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to offer enrolment services round-the-clock for the next few days.

Pantami also thanked telecom subscribers that have completed their NIN-SIM linkage.

On behalf of the Minister, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar  Danbatta, and the Director-General/CEO of NIMC, Engr. Aliyu Aziz, urge citizens and legal residents to take advantage of the window to complete the process of enrolment and verification within the next few days.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government had earlier set the NIN-SIM linkage deadline at 31st of March, 2022.

However, investigations by our correspondent on Thursday indicated that the NIMC could still not attend to subscribers’ pending NIN issuance in some centres nationwide.

For instance, an Akure, Ondo State-based subscriber, who simply identified herself as Juliet, claimed that she couldn’t complete the NIN-SIM integration as the officials “told us again to come back in the next two weeks.

“We have been experiencing this delay in completing our NIN-SIM linkage over the past three months at the centre. So, I think the government should do something urgent to solve the problem. If we are ready and NIMC appears not to be ready how can we then complete the registration?”, she queried.
